Yoga Retreat, Kythnos, Greece
Join myself and Tania for our first Yoga Retreat in Kythnos, Greece. We will be co-hosting an Ashtanga and Yin Retreat at the incredible K4Kastellas Villa. A more remote setting than last year. This Yoga Shala overlooks the secluded beach of Kastellas.
The retreat in Kythnos this year was such a success. The island with all 92 beaches, typical welcoming Greek hospitality and not too far from Athens makes for the perfect location to host annual Yoga retreats.
I am even more delighted to be hosting this retreat with Tania Kemou. A fellow Yoga teacher, born in Greece and now living and teaching in Berlin.
Styles of Yoga
You can look forward to two daily classes of Yoga.
A morning Ashtanga practice led by Tania. These classes will focus on the primary series, covering fundamentals of the Ashtanga method. Focusing on aspects such as breath, bandhas (locks), drishti (gaze) and vinyasa. Each class will close with pranayama (breathing techniques) and a well earned Savasana (final relaxation).
In the afternoons I will be teaching a slow Yin practice. These classes will be a designed to balance to the Ashtanga led practice. A Yin Yoga practice holds the postures for 2-5 minutes. This allows the practitioner to really focus on the mental and breath bodies. This complimentary practice uses principals of the meridian lines to stimulate and enhance the flow of energy throughout the body.
There will be plenty of downtime between classes to explore the magnificent beaches and a half day trip to Chora, the main town of Kythnos is also included.
Typical Daily Schedule
8.30 – 10.00: Ashtanga practice with Tania 10.00 – 11.00: Brunch is served
11.00 – 16.30: Free time to swim, book a massage, walk to the beach
17.00 – 18.30: Yin Yoga with Theresa
19.00 – 20.00: Dinner time
The first day will start with an opening ceremony so that everyone can get to know each other a little bit better. The last evening we will host a special closing ceremony after the final Yin practice. Expected end time for the last day will be 10:00 am following a final Ashtanga class and brunch.
