Women’s wellness workshop series

I am very excited to be collaborating with two extremely knowledgeable fellow Yogis, Taryn of Shakti Yoga Academy and Rulene of Maiden to Mother. Both very accomplished and experienced Yoga therapists who are currently running a 300 hr Women’s wellbeing Yoga therapy training.

If you couldn’t commit to the full 300hr training there is a series of upcoming Women’s wellness workshops covering current and relevant topics in women’s health.

This training is unique in that it is designed as an immersive experience, navigating the material in an exploratory and organic way.

You can select which topics interest you the most or join for all of them. For those attending the full series of workshops you will receive a 20hr YAI accredited certificate of attendance.

I will be covering two of the modules based on principle of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) places great emphasis on women’s wellness, viewing it as integral to overall health. Practices like acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy, and qigong are used to balance the body’s energy (qi) and promote harmony between yin and yang energies. TCM recognizes unique female health concerns such as menstruation, fertility, pregnancy, and menopause, offering specialized treatments tailored to address these issues. Additionally, TCM views emotions and stress as influential factors in women’s health, emphasizing the importance of mental and emotional balance for overall wellbeing.

The first workshop is an introduction to the principles of Yin and Yang within the menstrual cycle.

The menstrual cycle is seen as a reflection of a woman’s overall health and balance of qi (vital energy) and blood. It is believed that disruptions or imbalances in the flow of qi and blood can lead to menstrual irregularities and related symptoms.

TCM practitioners assess various factors such as the quality of blood, energy levels, and the functioning of organs like the liver and kidneys to diagnose and treat menstrual issues.

According to TCM theory, the menstrual cycle is divided into different phases, each associated with specific energetic qualities. For example, the follicular phase corresponds to the growth of yin energy, while the luteal phase corresponds to the rise of yang energy.

Imbalances in these energies can manifest as symptoms such as irregular periods, painful menstruation, or emotional disturbances.

You will learn basic acupressure points that you can use during a Yin Yoga practice or as supplementary tools during a Yoga therapy session.

The second workshop will introduce the extraordinary channels and the unique understanding of the role of the uterus as an extraordinary vital organ.

The uterus is considered a vital organ closely linked to a woman’s overall health and wellbeing. It is believed to be governed by the concept of “Chong Mai,” often translated as the “Penetrating Vessel” or “Thoroughfare Vessel,” which plays a crucial role in regulating menstruation, fertility, and pregnancy.

According to TCM theory, the uterus is influenced by the flow of qi (vital energy) and blood throughout the body, as well as by the balance of yin and yang energies. When these energies become imbalanced or blocked, it can lead to various gynecological issues such as irregular menstruation, infertility, or menstrual pain.

TCM treatments for uterine health typically involve a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy, and lifestyle recommendations aimed at restoring balance to the body’s energy systems. This is another area of TCM that can be used to support uterine health and overall wellbeing in women.
