Melody Hill Yoga Retreat
Here is a review of my recent Melody Hill Yoga Retreat with Taryn-Elise Herselman of Shakti Yoga
Melody Hill is a Yoga Retreat centre not far from Johannesburg in Magaliesberg. Very close to the Cradle of Humankind. It offers a fully equipped Yoga shala and makes for an ideal venue to host a Yoga retreat.
The accommodation is rustic, country style. With several rooms and sharing options. A large swimming pool and a short distance walk to the Magalies River. Melody Hill also offers Kahuna massage treatments during your stay.
Restore, renew and revive
The theme of this year’s retreat was to Restore, Renew and Revive. The classes, workshops and styles of Yoga taught were all intended to open the energy channels in both the physical and mental bodies. So as to support full and vibrant health.
The itinerary allowed for enough time to relax between classes. But also included some additional informative workshops about Cleansing techniques and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Styles of Yoga
Styles taught included Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin and Transformational Yoga. And of course plenty of Yoga nidra to restore tired bodies. Pranayama and meditation sessions were also held each morning.

Meals
Meals were prepared by a caterer, Jacqui Webb. We can highly recommend her meal plan over the weekend. Everyone enjoyed a variety of delicious vegetarian curries, salads and sides. Light breakfasts of fresh fruit salad, muesli and oats.
All designed to compliment the Yoga practice and cleansing techniques for those who participated.
It is always such a pleasure to work with another Yoga teacher during a retreat. You get to enjoy their yoga classes and support each other with food prep, transportation and admin. It creates a space of shared learning, encouragement and your students are able to enjoy different teaching styles and knowledge.
Thank-you
A special thank-you to Taryn for inviting me to co-host this retreat and to everyone who joined us!
