ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive and Connect to the Water that surrounds you 

Welcome and orientation, introductions, setting of intentions

Evening Opening ceremony, Yin yoga session & Yoga Nidra – Introducing the theme of Water for the retreat.

Group dinner at local taverna

Day 2: Embodying flow and Emotional Release 

Morning Vinyasa yoga practice with the theme of Svadhisthana (Sacral) Chakra – Immerse yourself in Island life. Find fluidity and flexibility in both mind and body, allow yourself to embrace change and adaptability much like water moulds to its surroundings.

Healthy breakfast

Yoga Workshop on the Chakra system, focusing on the Svadhistana (Sacral) Chakra which governs the element of Water.

Late lunch to be served 

Free time for exploration or relaxation* 

Evening Yin Yoga – the Theme of Water in Eastern Philosophies, the Element, its Yin & Yang organs and self acupressure points to regulate the channels.

Day 3: Integration and Renewal 

Morning Vinyasa yoga & arm balance play – Explore the balance between strength and softness, power and grace, inspired by the way water can be both powerful and gentle depending on its form.

Healthy breakfast

Nature walk on the island for those interested

Late lunch to be served 

Restorative yoga session – Encouraging introspection and self reflection during the practice, inviting you to connect with your inner depths and emotions, much like the hypnotic effect of gazing out to the ocean’s horizon.

Free time for beach and exploring*

Evening silent walking meditation

Day 4 : Return to Stillness and Inner Wisdom 

Beach guided meditation and breath work session (weather compliant) – Emphasizing the rhythmic ebb and flow of the breath, designed to mimic the rise and fall of the ocean waves.

Healthy breakfast

TCM talk : Understanding the Water Element in Chinese medicine : Fear vs. Courage & Willpower. Learn an overview of key self acupressure points to help regulate this fundamental Element.

Late lunch to be served 

Free time for beach activities or to explore the Port*

Closing ceremony and reflections

Day 5: What is flowing forward with you, closing practice and departure 

Morning yoga gentle vinyasa  – Gentle and grounding practice with stillness and stability, incorporating soft, continuous transitions between poses, ensuring that you leave the retreat feeling calm, at ease and ready to return back to your day to day reality and commitments.

Final breakfast and check out

How to get there :

Traveling to Athens

To travel from South Africa to Athens, international flights involve a layover. Major airports in South Africa, like OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg or Cape Town International Airport, often have flights to Athens International Airport (Eleftherios Venizelos). It’s advisable to check with airlines for the latest routes, availability, and any travel restrictions. Additionally, ensure you have the necessary travel documents, including a valid passport and any required visas.

Airlines include Turkish AirlinesEgypt AirEthiopian AirlinesQatar AirwaysEmirates. It may be advisable to consult with a travel agent should you require a Schengen Visa. 

We do suggest you get to Athens at least a day before the retreat starts, the city is definitely worth exploring and it will also allow you more flexibility when booking your ferry tickets.

Getting to Hydra from Athens

Hydra is approximately 64 kilometres (40 miles) southwest of Athens. You can reach Hydra from Athens by ferry, and the journey takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the type of ferry and sea conditions. The port of departure for ferries to Hydra from Athens is usually Piraeus.

Please note that regrettably no under 16’s are allowed at the Mandraki Beach resort. Payment is to be made according to whatever the current ZAR to Euro rate is at time of booking.
