The Ren & the Chong Mai

The Sea of Yin and the Sea of Blood.

Learn how to integrate these two extraordinary channels into your Yin Yoga sequencing. Better understand their role in balancing and regulating the hormonal systems.

The Ren Mai and the Chong Mai are considered the foundation of feminine rhythm and vitality.

The Ren, also know as the Conception Vessel, runs along the front midline of the body, from the perineum up to the lips. It is called the Sea of Yin because it gathers the cooling, nourishing and stabilising forces that keep us grounded and whole. It plays a pivotal role in the functioning of the uterus, menstrual cycle and the quality of our Yin energy.

The Chong, the Penetrating vessel, rises from the same source and travels deep through the abdomen, chest and legs. The Sea of Blood connects the reproductive system with the heart, linking emotion and fertility, passion and purpose.

When the Ren & Chong are in harmony, the hormonal fluctuations move more smoothly. The cycle is regular, sleep is deep, emotions flow easily. Stress, overwork and ageing can deplete these channels. We may notice imbalances such as irregular cycles, mood fluctuations, heat at night or fatigue.

Yin yoga and pressure points are beautiful ways to nourish these rivers. The holds of Yin invite the fascia, and the meridians woven within it, to open slowly, allowing Qi and blood to flow freely. Gentle pressure on specific acupressure points sends warmth deep into the womb and kidneys, awakening the body’s innate wisdom to restore balance.

This workshop will teach you the channels pathways, understanding of their functions and how best to apply this to Yin Yoga sequencing with the inclusion of self acupressure points.

It is preferable to have some understanding of the primary channels and/or Yin yoga to attend this module.
